Re the report on use of traffic lights to deter speeding, there has been an experimental installation since 2015 on the A78 at Fairlie, Ayrshire, where a side road joins the main road. The lights are normally green, but turn to red if a vehicle approaches at more than 30 mph or if a vehicle is approaching from the side road. Studs in the road detect vehicle speed.
