Prague bringing trolleybuses back, inaugurates line to airport amongst others (SustainableBus)

Prague Transport Company has 13 other urban bus lines in various stages of project preparation and, in cooperation with the Central Bohemian Region, the first suburban bus line, which will gradually be converted to trolleybuses by 2030. After more than 50 years since the closure, we are indeed bringing trolleybuses back to Prague – a locally emission-free type of transport that has always belonged to the city’s hilly profile.

After the opening of line 58, it is the turn of line 59. On Wednesday 6 March 2024 Prague trolleybus line 59 will be opened to the public, completely replacing line 119, which runs from the Veleslavín railway station to Prague Airport “Václav Havel”. The diesel buses will be replaced by the battery-powered Škoda-Solaris 24m trolleybuses.  The trolleybus will run as far as Terminal 3, while Terminal 1-2 will be reached in battery mode.
