    This is the kind of culturally and historically tone deaf statement that gives American writers a bad name.
    Just say the word is of Venetian origin and refers to a type of boat. The historical context isn’t a “can also” it’s the entire etymology of the word. It’s good form to acknowledge that to show some cultural respect.
