Friendliness to bus drivers…well I certainly say hello pleasantly if I need to buy a ticket, and, if it is a front-exit only bus, I certainly say “thank you driver” when I leave (doesn’t seem much point if the exit is mid or aft).
I know some people don’t.
Maybe there needs to be a campaign.
Just the small section of that “FT” article was scary – we are even worse than the US at financing public transport?
How much of that is “institutional” & how much “ideological” would be an interesting examination.
