If you watch the end of (12-17 mins) Fully Charged Christmas Unspecial Dec 23 2019 on youtube, Robert Llewellyn shows the new Tesla electric car v3 superchargers at the Tesla showroom and service centre in Acton, London which are powered by a TfL tube train 11kv power supply. In June Tesla Energy gained permission to become a generator company in Britain, so is Tesla planning to sign a PPA with TfL for battery and solar power ?
Riding Sunbeams Ltd decided not to use batteries for the solar farm in Aldershot that will power 3rd rail trains due to cost but will use battery storage with solar and wind farms in South Wales for overhead cable trains, so if Riding Sunbeams Ltd installs a solar farm to power tube trains on the Central line I don’t know if batteries will be used.
