  1. Tream-Trains will only make new connections if the Mancunians can beat the DfT into submission.
As it was in Sheffield, where a concept already in use in Germany for over 20 years had to be painstakingly re-invented, whilst carefully ignoring all the existing evidence.

    “the Circle Line”
Well, there were at least three, or was it four (?) bars actually on the London Circle Line!

    e-scooters
That article is disingenous & highly misleading.
What about the danger to pedestrians from e-scooters?
The writer pretends that this problem does not exist in his/her rant against car drivers.

  2. Speaking from first hand experience, it’s better to be hit by a scooter than a car.

  3. Greg T – Bars on Circle Line
It depends on definition. There was one bar – Liverpool Street that opened directly onto the outer rail platform. I really used to enjoy having a pint of Bass and watching the Met locos!
My memory is not great but there was a bar at Sloane Square that had direct access from the platform. I seem to remember drinking in there on my way home and popping out when a train was coming in to check the light code on the front to see if it was a Richmond in which case a rapid swill and return of glass and I was away.
Other bars were often on the outside of the barriers but I do not remember which were in or out. High Street Kensington, Baker Street, Kings Cross had them and I am sure there were more. Nearly all served draught Bass – a favourite on mine. Thanks for the reminder Greg.

  4. Tram train between Altrincham and Hale? It’s about half a mile. Impossible to know what is meant, but for sure it isn’t a new type of vehicle on just this stretch. Recent experience of these snippets convinces me that any article to do with the Manchester area will have some such bit of incomprehensibility in it.
