Sorry to post some more potential reading but in case people are interested Singapore opens the final section of the Downtown Line on 21/10/17. They published a rather nice 97 page pdf book of its history and construction.

And for those interested in the wider Singapore transport scene there is the latest Land Transport Authority annual report. Singapore is interesting as they’re building more metro lines, facing up to High Speed Rail, have problems with Uber and taxi trade and have also moved to a bus contracting model similar in style to how TfL do things. They are also moving away from a road biased policy to one which encourages cycling and walking. So quite a number of parallels with London policy issues.

I hope you’ve had a chance to check out the LA J-Pop (Japan pop culture) Public Service Advert link, a funny and slightly bizarre take on a serious topic. LBM
Wow, that Trump 2016 commericial was quite something in the LA J-Pop article.
For me, one of the biggest issues with the sleeper is being kicked off the train at 0730, Call me lazy, but that is very early to be asked to leave your “luxurious” surroundings compared to a real hotel. Yes, I realise that there are operational reasons why it has to be that early.
