A lot of trains are either starting their “life” in London or ending it at the moment, so below is a quick summary of major comings and goings.
Metropolitan line
Incoming stock: S8 Stock
Outgoing stock: A60/62 Stock
The first two units of A Stock (5173 and 5197) were shipped for scrapping on the weekend of 9th/10th October.
Eight units of S8 Stock trains in total are currently complete; however, only one is actually in service. Six of them are in LUL hands: two are being housed at Neasden depot, and the other four are being stabled at Rickmansworth sidings. The other two are pre-production units, which are in Derby. Amusingly, one of the trains that is definitely not in service has been “on holiday” before it even starts working – at the InnoTrans trade fair in Berlin (shown below)!

Victoria line
Incoming: 2009 tube stock
Outgoing: 1967 tube stock
The trains are now effectively in “one in, one out” mode, meaning that as soon as an 09 is dropped off at Northumberland Park depot, a 67 is sent to be scrapped by Booths from Acton Works. As of last week, there are approximately 28 1967s left in service and 16 new 09 stock trains.
London Overground (Gospel Oak – Barking line)
Incoming: Class 172/0 “Turbostars”
Outgoing: Class 150/1 “Sprinters”
All eight London Overground Class 172 units have been delivered to Willesden TMD (Train Maintenance Depot). For those looking to see the final Sprinter runs, the last service using a 150 train is currently planned to be the 18:20 from Gospel Oak (and the returning 19:02 from Barking) on Thursday 28th October.
