West Hampstead
Under the unfinished stub of the new footbridge and lifts at West Hampstead Thameslink life is begining to stir both on the embankment and the former track bed of the up and down Hendon lines. The lower slopes of the embankment have been cleared of trees and whilst builders cabins have sprouted like McDonalds prebuilt drive through branches, building materials are being accumulated on the track bed ready for the start of construction of the new station entrance in Iverson Road. The new footbridge is now almost complete apart from the link to Iverson Road.
The shops on the bridge opposite the Cowcross street entrance have now been cleared whilst Cardinal House, the site of the future Crossrail station, has almost been reduced to Cardinal Bungalow
Blackfriars
Not much of the overall roof remains but the crane jibs suggest plenty of activity on the bridge deck behind the construction safety hoardings.
And finally – The one that got away…
Leaving Blackfriars Thameslink, or London Blackfriars to give it its proper double barrel, you can now see the box protecting the District and Circle Lines Lines. At least, that is, you could if I had got my camera out in time.
Perhaps another London Reconnections reader could help us out here?
