Important Information About LR December Drinks!

The Royal Oak are kind enough to normally let us have their upstairs room for free. Unfortunately, due to their Christmas commitments, they can’t do that this week. So there will not be an official meetup this week at the Royal Oak, as December is not a good time to be trying to find a space downstairs!

The good news is that there are still a couple of opportunities to catch up with us for a Christmas drink:

This Thursday (14 December) at the Half Moon pub in Half Moon Lane in Herne Hill

A number of LR meetup regulars (hopefully including myself and Pedantic) will be assembling at the Half Moon in Herne Hill this week instead of the Royal Oak. We intend that at least a couple of us will be there by 6 p.m. – possibly earlier.

Direct trains serve Herne Hill via Thameslink to/from The City and beyond via Elephant & Castle and Sutton/Wimbledon, and via Southeastern to/from Victoria and stations to Bromley South and beyond, whilst the local buses link the area with Brixton, West Norwood, Crystal Palace, Camberwell Peckham and so on.

Next Tuesday (19th December) at Ye Olde Rose and Crown in Walthamstow

I’ll be having a pre-Christmas drink in the Rose in Walthamstow next Tuesday from about 6pm. All are welcome, but drop me an email at [email protected] if you do intend to come and say hello!

Walthamstow is at the top end of the Victoria line and on Overground services into Liverpool Street (The GOBLIN is currently closed). It is also easy to get to via bus from Stratford. The pub is about ten minutes walk up Hoe Street from the station.

Merry Christmas all, and we will return to the Royal Oak in the new year!

  1. Thank you for that…
And a reminder that we are booked in to the Royal Oak for January …..

  2. Maybe there could be a kind of site visit to see how Herne Hill could be grade separated…

  3. Re Anonymous of Croydon,

The council street waste transfer station & NR local maintenance depot in the V to the north of the station (off Shakespeare Road) is quite a walk from the Half Moon, but a walk down Shakespeare Road will reveal the useful divergence in heights between the Victoria (down) and Blackfriars (up) lines hence a flyover to the north to take Blackfriars services (from the Western most platforms) over the Victoria lines combined with 4 track bridge to the south. (All covered in the Herne Hill Article from 2012? if the missing comments have been restored)
